The 15¾ x19in (40 x 48cm) work, in pen, ink and wash with white highlights, depicts a meeting between washerwomen and watercarriers at a fountain, is signed lower right and dates from c.1800

It has a provenance back to the posthumous sale of the collection of Achille Greverath in 1856; then sales from the collections of Eugène Tondu, 1865; Anatole- Auguste Hulot, 1892; and an anonymous sale at Drouot in 1936.

Estimate €20,000-30,000.
