British Army 28th Regiment of Foot (Gloucestershire Regiment) officer’s 1853-54 scarlet coatee estimated at £600-900 at Stroud Auction Rooms.
The first of these comprises over 300 uniforms dating from the 18th century onwards but predominantly pre-First World War, consigned by the trustees of The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum. Of the large variety of uniforms included, the rarest and perhaps the most interesting are the militia, volunteer and territorial examples. This consignment is being sold to raise funds for the museum and as with all items sold for charity, Stroud Auctions is not charging the seller any commission.

The second collection featured in the auction is a private lifetime collection of over 350 bayonets – these are from a variety of countries around the world and some particularly rare and one-off prototype examples are included.
