Casas is one of the 29 Spanish artists represented in the show held at Colnaghi in association with two Barcelona galleries: Sala Parés and Artur Ramon Art. It is the third collaboration held between the galleries and seeks to promote Spanish Modernists.

Casas first travelled to Paris at 16 and exhibited there regularly. He was fascinated with Velázquez and Spanish fashion, the influences of both of which can be seen in this picture.

The artists in the show include Marià Andreu, Hermenegildo Anglada-Camarasa, Isidre Nonell and many others. Most travelled from Barcelona to live and work in Paris in the early years of the 20th century when the city was at the centre of the art world.

Prices range from €25,000-500,000 and the show runs at the St James’s, London, gallery from October 6-November 18.
