The collection for sale in Chicago centres around 18th and 19th century and Art Deco pieces in a variety of different forms: snuff boxes, necessaires, scent bottles and seals showcasing the skilled techniques, craftmanship and variety of materials involved in the manufacture of these small scale works of art.
Pictured here is a 2¾in (7cm) high English mid-18th century combination scent bottle, patch box and snuff box.
It is made from panels of agate with rococo gold mounts and enamelwork featuring a stopper modelled as a swan and the inscription Votre Amitie Fait Me Seule Felicite on a band around the shoulders.
The estimate is $3000-5000.
