I buy worldwide and something usually goes wrong particularly with the currency used; most people at DHL seeing a $ sign assume it is US dollars.

I recently had paintings imported and delivered by DHL from Australia and Canada and every time they used the US dollar rate. To make it worse, they charged 20% Import VAT instead of 5% as original works of art.

I insist on paying all import VAT charges in full as opposed to them using the deferred scheme, which leads to numerous emails and phone calls to correct the issue.

Enough is enough: when will they get their act together and not cause long-lasting problems?
