He issued two series of mohurs – one known as the portrait series carrying the face of the emperor on the obverse, the other known as the zodiac series, represented by one of the constellations.

Because many of these coins had been recalled and melted by Jahangir’s successor, Shah Jahan, original strikes are very rare. This one struck in Agra in 1620 depicting Sagittarius sold at £75,000.
