The Flock of Arts offers this Victorian ‘pillow’, which was salvaged from the solitary confinement cell of a prison. The solid block of oak, 2ft 6in (76cm) wide, was used as an added layer of punishment for badly behaved prisoners.

The edges would have been fitted to the wall and still bear their holes where the block would have been attached. It is extensively carved with name of its users. Those visible include Caddy and Hilly 4/9/19.

The Knutsford dealership offers the pillow for £125.

It sells a range of other artefacts, seating, glass and studio ceramics.
