Dating from c.1730, the 4¼ x 3¼in (11 x 8cm) sketch is a fragment which has come to auction from a private client in Leicestershire.

The vendor acquired it in 2008 from Agnews and it has since appeared in the Hogarth catalogue raisonné compiled by Elizabeth Einberg and published by Yale University Press in 2016.

The estimate at Cheffins is £15,000-25,000.
