Blackdog Events is starting a new brocante at Culford Hall.
Blackdog Events runs brocantes in East Anglia set against a stately home and parkland backdrop, which is an added attraction to the business of browsing and buying antiques.
New to its events at Woolverstone Hall and Riddlesworth Hall is a brocante at Culford Hall, near Bury St Edmunds, with the first on Sunday, May 21. If you miss that, the second will be held on Sunday, September 10.
Another new venue, The Walled Garden at Raynham Hall in north Norfolk, then beckons on Sunday, August 6.
Organiser Kate Button said: “We had been looking for a new venue for our May and September brocantes and Culford came up.
“With a beautiful hall at its centre and parkland around it ticked all the boxes. The brocante will be on the north lawns in front of the hall and visitors will be able to wander around the formal gardens at the rear and some of the parkland.”
Button added: “We’re really looking forward to this one as it has great potential.”
Hall now a school
The Grade 11-Listed Culford Hall is an 18th century mansion set in a 480-acre park and is now a school.
Back in the day when the estate was owned by the 5th Earl Cadogan the land extended to 10,000 acres and King Edward VII was a regular at shooting parties.
Over at the 17th century Raynham Hall, near Fakenham, an hour from Norwich, the seat of the Townshend family for nearly 500 years, good use is made of the space offered at the 800-acre estate which includes wild glamping as well as the five-acre walled garden where the brocante will be held.
Shed load of treasures

Staying with East Anglia, and another bit of good news that comes courtesy of antiques and Persian rugs dealer Mal Cannell.
He has been having a spring clean of his barns and outbuildings at the Raveningham Centre, near Norwich, and as a result decided to launch a monthly fleamarket starting on Sunday, May 14, and then every second Sunday throughout the year.
This will run in a “big shed plus a container full of antiques, salvage and vintage treasures with 25 dealers already signed up for the first market”, said Cannell.
The centre is in a range of Victorian buildings which hosts assorted enterprises including Cannell’s antiques business.

The 18th century moated country house which hosts Little Vintage Lover Fair.
Meanwhile, Zoe Durrant of Little Vintage Lover Fair returns to the Mannington Estate in the heart of the Norfolk countryside near Aylsham on Sunday, May 14, with her annual vintage event.
As well as 40 stands for enthusiastic vintage shoppers, it offers street food, classic cars and music, the more to attract visitors to the fair at this 18th century moated country house.
Little Vintage Lover Fair was launched in 2008.
