One of the stars of BBC’s The Bidding Room will be describing her career path from teacher and artist to antiques dealer during a special talk at the annual White Door Brocante in the south Oxfordshire village of Benson.

Decoratives dealer Jo Roberts, who has also featured in previous ATGs, will have a starring role on Friday, June 16, at this French-style event.

It is organised by Berkshire antiques dealer Elise Harris who launched the brocante in 2019.

“I love the chat and the buzz and it’s noticeable that over the years fairs have become a lot less formal and offer a much wider range of stock as well as a broader demographic”, said Harris, who is an avid fair-goer,

She added there will be lots on offer at the brocante which runs in Benson Parish Hall including furniture, mirrors, linens and textiles at prices starting from under £10 to £100.

Dealers at this brocante include Hetty Purbrick, co-organiser of the Decorative Living Fair in Kent, and textiles specialist Rebecca Engels.

Benson Parish Hall is also the venue for a long-standing antiques and collectors’ fair which dealer Joy O’Meara of Jay Fairs – a veteran of the antiques events scene for 40 years – has organised for many years.

This runs on the third Sunday of every month from 9am to 3pm, with the trade limbering up for an 8am entry time, with the next on Sunday, June 18.
