Bink was among around 40 exhibitors that stood at the fair, which ran from September 28-October 1 at The Garden Rooms at the Tennants auction house in Leyburn, North Yorkshire.

Also selling was a late 19th century oval engraved carriage clock which went from the stand of Frodsham Clocks for a price in the region of £3000-4000.

John AW Briggs sold a silk Turkish rug woven and signed by the Ozipek family of weavers for a price of around £2400, while Elford Fine Art parted with two rustic Victorian scenes by Charles Edward Wilson and Vernon Ward for roughly £6500 each.

One day of trading represented his best in five years. At one point, a client purchased eight works for prices ranging from £300-2000.

Landmark event

This Scottish Arts & Crafts silver jewellery box by Alexander and Euphemia Ritchie of Iona was sold by Highland Antiques at the Northern Antiques Fair for a price in the region of £2500.

The annual fair moved from Harrogate to its current venue three editions ago. It is a still unusual but positive demonstration of how the auction world and the trade can work together.

Tennants chairman Rodney Tennant said that the fair “has become a landmark event in our calendar”.

Fair director Ingrid Nilson added: “The atmosphere in the Garden Rooms and Cloisters was upbeat and positive across the four days, and the amount of pass-out slips handed in on exit confirmed that plenty of sales were made in these somewhat challenging times.

“Both the level of attendance and the results were very respectable and we already look forward to next year.”
