Dudley was an avid trader who had almost 60 years’ experience in the industry both as a formidable seller and buyer.

Dudley (and his surviving wife) Gill Thompson were regular faces at fairs such as the NEC, Newark and Kensington as well as having cabinets in London Antiques in Moreton-in-Marsh and Durham House Antiques in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Dudley’s knowledge was broad and extensive and he offered his expertise and advice unconditionally and generously.

He specialised in Oriental and Chinese ceramics but spent many years searching for the elusive big hitter whatever form that may have been. When Dudley found something special he took great joy in travelling it up to the London auction houses, and became a familiar face at Christie’s.

Dudley was such a kind, funny, patient and exceptionally hard-working man who everyone knew as the purest of souls and a real gentlemen.
