The show, which runs until October 20, marks the artist’s 100th birthday. A leading British figurative painter, he began exhibiting with William Darby before the gallery’s opening in 1977 and was awarded an OBE this year.
Landscapes, still-lifes and figure studies are all included in the exhibition, which brings together works spanning his career. Some scenes depict south London or his Brixton home.
The new gallery is at 34 Bury Street, St James’s, and has opened following a period of renovation over the summer.
