The 12½n (32cm) high jug, which is dated to c.1870, is based on the form of a classical amphora and has decoration by the engraver John Northwood of scenes from John Flaxman’s illustrations to Homer’s Odyssey of 1805 as well as bands of formal neoclassical motifs.
In Gloucestershire it sold for £1400 against a guide of £100-150.
