Priced at £12,500, this Regency period ormolu mounted mahogany vide poche centre table attributed to S Jamar is available from McBain & Byrne at The Northern Antiques Fair.
Running September 28-October 1, the event hosts 40 dealers from across the country offering antiques, decorative items and fine art.
Among the exhibitors is McBain & Byrne. The firm comprises English conservator Rupert McBain and Philip Byrne, an antiques consultant from Kilkenny, Ireland, and they offer a range of British furniture. One of the highlights on the stand is a Regency ormolu mounted mahogany vide poche centre table attributed to S Jamar, which is offered for £12,500.
Jamar, likely trained in Europe, had set up shop in Soho by 1818, and he specialised in producing French Empire style furniture that he claimed was equal to any of that made in Paris.
Hispanic Antiques brings a pair of South American steel Huasos spurs dating to the late 19th century. Likely made for decorative display, they are offered for £1800 at The Northern Antiques Fair.
Though the fair has been in its current home a fairly short time, it has a long history. Launched in 1951, it first ran in Harrogate before moving to Tennants. It is under the direction of Ingrid Nilson, who also oversees the Cotswold Art & Antiques Dealers’ Association Fair in November and the Antiques Dealers Fair Limited events.
This rare German silver Edwardian swan made in Hanau, c.1900, is offered by Highland Antiques for £3450 at The Northern Antiques Fair.
The fair regularly promotes works of local interest, and this year there are scenes of North Yorkshire by William Jackson (1859-1918) from Graham Reed Fine Art and a watercolour of the River Esk by Harold Sutton Palmer (1854-1033) offered by Gladwells Rutland.
This pair of portrait miniatures depicting siblings is by Patrick John McMorland and is offered for £1900 by Wigs on the Green at The Northern Antiques Fair. The brother is in pink, considered in Georgian times to be a strong, masculine colour.
Other exhibitors include Melody Antiques, Wigs on the Green and Solo Antiques.
