Now Oxfordshire is added to the schedule.

The fair held in the village of Benson is already well known to trade and public. This long-running event was acquired by Jay Fairs – aka fairs veterans Joy O’Meara and her sister Jill Napper – in 2004. Payne has now taken it on.

O’Meara, who has run the monthly fair single-handedly for some years, is retiring. She told ATG: “It’s time to retire from all the hard work involved in running an antiques fair. I am continuing to enjoy buying and selling and will attend other people’s fairs and have a rest. I’ve had many happy years at Benson and I wish the new organisers of the fairs the best of luck.”

Meanwhile, Payne’s new location in the county is Hazlemere and he plans for this fair and the one at Benson to be his flagship events.

He has a busy few months ahead and his October schedule includes six fairs across six locations. Hidden Treasures’ next fair is at the village hall in Haddenham, near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, on Sunday, September 24.
