They are being staged at 21 Greene Street in Soho, a new location which is being rented for the auctions.
The first is a selection of over 100 watches from the collection of Glen de Vries, the co-founder of technology company Medidata Solutions, on October 18. It is followed a day later by a 101-lot auction of items from the Joe Baio collection, one of the most extensive privately owned photography collections in the world.
On October 26, Hindman will stage a two-part sale of the collection of the late property developer Philip Sieg featuring fine art and modern pottery.
Lots include James Abbott McNeill Whistler’s (1834-1903) Peasant Women Standing Under a Tree, estimated at $150,000- 250,000, and a Lucie Rie (1902-95) conical sgraffito bowl pitched at $15,000-25,000.
The sales follow Hindman’s appointment of Gemma Sudlow as managing director for its New York region at the end of last year. She joined after 17 years at Christie’s. Since then, the Chicago-headquartered firm has made a string of appointments to its New York team and held a series of exhibitions at High Line Nine Galleries in Manhattan.
Hindman has also opened new offices in Boston and Miami, taking the number of US cities from where its operates to 16.
