Dated c.1929, Clarice is thought to have copied it from Owen Jones’ Grammar of Ornament published in 1856. This particular vase unusually has a painted Archaic mark and also a printed mark reading Replica A Temple in the Oasis of Thebes. Capital of Column.

Estimated at £1500-2000, it took £4500.

Another example, one pictured in Comprehensively Clarice Cliff (2005) by Greg Slater and Jonathan Brough, sold for £3600 at Fieldings in March 2022 - just a few days before another with this rare mark took NZ$14,000 (£6700) at Dunbar Sloane in Wellington, New Zealand, in March 2022.
