Howard Carter’s discovery of the untouched tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun in 1922
sparked a wave of Egyptomania that would affect everything from Art Deco design
to architecture.

Film, fashion and even the marketing for items such as perfume,
soap and lemons made much of their connection (real or imagined) to the ancient
civilisation.

Reflecting the craze is this 1920s Egyptian sarcophagus charm in 800 silver and
enamel, which opens to reveal a removable mummy.

It is offered for £175 on the website of Aladdins Cave, a Leeds jewellery specialist.
