Piano Auctions in Bedford will hold auctions in South Holland to allow ease of purchase and delivery for EU customers.

The firm said that in “response to the challenges posed by a decline in buyers and vendors from the EU zone following Brexit” it has opened the new saleroom and that “despite a tariff-free deal, the imposition of import VAT and CITES regulations significantly impacted the use of its services by EU clients in the UK.”

‘Without hurdles’

Sean McIlroy, the owner of Piano Auctions, said: “We are pleased to extend our reach into the Netherlands and provide a platform for EU clients to engage with our services without the hurdles posed by post-Brexit regulations. This move aligns with our commitment to fostering international partnerships and ensuring accessibility for our continental clients.”

The first auction is scheduled for March 5 and all instruments for this sale will be sourced from EU countries. It plans a second auction in October.

The UK auctions will continue with four a year in April, June, September and December.

All its auctions are online sales.
