The Maidenhead auction house said: “Jonathan joins the company after five years at Dreweatts in Newbury where he oversaw a successful period of development posting the highest regional auction house turnover for three consecutive years.”

Pratt added: “I am very excited to join the Dawsons management team. While it is one of the youngest auction houses in the country it has already developed one of the best jewellery departments outside London.

"Dawsons is in a great location for serving London and the home counties and with the Hampstead office I believe Dawsons has real potential for further growth in other specialist markets.”

Pratt became managing director of Dreweatts in 2018. He had been managing director of Bellmans since 2005.
