The event will feature a number of academics and curators giving papers on topics ranging from The Politics of the Historic Interior in late 19th century France to Scholars, dealers and decorators: in search of the Georgian period room.
Other talks will focus on specific places, including A hidden history of the Geffrye Museum's period rooms, c.1935-1969 and The King's Presence Chamber, Kensington Palace - a 21st century reconsideration.
Organiser Dr Mark Westgarth of Leeds University, himself a former antiques dealer, is also project leader for Antique Dealers: the British Antique Trade in the 20th Century, a cultural geography, a major survey being carried out in collaboration with the University of Southampton, which is supported by ATG, and is looking for help and input from across the trade.
