Art by the English novelist Evelyn Waugh (1903-66) is the focus of an exhibition at Maggs Bros in Bedford Square, London.
EW Pinxit: The Graphic Art of Evelyn Waugh includes original artwork and printed material, both for sale and on loan from private collections.
Priced at £4500 is the hand-made collaged Christmas card shown above, with a monochrome reproduction of Gaetano Zumbo’s (1656-1701) wax plague diorama. Waugh wryly captioned the card Family Group at Piers Court, Stinchcombe, Glos. Dec 1950.
The exhibition closes on July 28.
A colourful metal mobile by the Spanish sculptor Manuel Marin (1942-2007) is estimated at £2000-2500 in Chiswick Auctions’ timed online-only auction concluding on July 31.
The 3ft (92cm) wide red, blue and yellow hanging piece comes from the Marin estate and is impressed with the sculptor’s signature.

A René Lalique glass car mascot of a falcon is priced at £2700 from Madelena Antiques & Collectables in Essex.
The 6in (16cm) high piece, which was first introduced in 1925, is moulded in relief and engraved with the maker’s mark and model number.
