1. How did you get your start?

By accident. When I met Offer, I’d completed an MA in fine art at Chelsea and was teaching on art foundation courses. I wasn’t really looking to work in a gallery. I came to help out after the gallery moved to Langton Street and it evolved from there.

2. One exhibition you would love to stage given an unlimited budget?

It’s been a real pleasure to work with Alison Wilding on our current exhibition, so I hope we can work together again in the future.

The gallery space is still so new to us – we haven’t begun to explore what we can do here yet. I’d love to do more things which use the Georgian architecture – maybe something animated, like Paola Pivi’s 2007 installation One cup of cappuccino then I go, which had a leopard roaming around the Kunsthalle Basel.

3. Biggest threat to the market at the moment?

I’m not sure the art market is under too much threat. In the time I’ve been working, the Modern British art market has gone from strength to strength. For younger artists the biggest threat has got to be the cost of living in London and tuition fees. This will have a real impact on the art that is created in the future and who gets to make it.

4. Auction houses: friend or foe to the dealer?

The lines are blurring, aren’t they? But we have some great Modern British specialists working in London who really love their field – so friends, definitely.

We are working on a show with S2 (Sotheby’s gallery) later in the year – I think there are lots of ways to work together and clients certainly want both.

5. Real ale or espresso martini?

Rum and coke please!
