The earliest extant card featuring the baseball legend, it is one of those printed in 1933 for a San Francisco confectioner and inserted in his Zenith candy boxes – apparently a coconut-based variation on Cracker Jacks.
Among other printed star turns was a contract with the New York Yankees signed in 1934 by another legend of baseball, Babe Ruth. It was bid to $195,000 (£145,520).
