He founded Lawrence Steigrad Fine Arts together with his wife Peggy Stone in 1989 and runs a gallery in New York.
1 What is your area of focus?
Seventeenth through to 19th century paintings with an emphasis on portraiture.
2 Have you noticed any collecting trends in the last 6-12 months?
Museums are still active. We have sold three paintings in 2020 to museums with one more picture still out on approval.
3 What is one great discovery you’ve made?
Cornelia Toe Boecop’s portrait of Ott van Bronckhorst of 1606 which we sold in 2020 to the Rijksmuseum.
4 Who do you admire from the art and antiques world?
Bob P Haboldt. His honesty, integrity and generosity have been a guiding light.
5 What lesson you would like to pass on to others?
Do not count on a sale until you have the money in your account.
