A 1633 first edition of Christopher Marlowe’s 'The Famous Tragedy of the Rich Jew of Malta', $120,000 (£91,605) at Swann Galleries.
In a modern binding of full dark brown morocco, it doubled the high estimate to sell at $120,000 (£91,605) on October 27.
The play was written by Marlowe c.1589 and entered in the Stationers’ Register five years later, but no earlier edition is recorded.
