Dawsons is to sell a collection of Grima jewellery as part of its Jewellery, Silver & Watches sale on September 23. The six pieces were the property of the Michelin starred chef Michel Roux (1941-2020) and have been consigned by his family. Michel Roux and Andrew Grima (1921-2007) enjoyed a long friendship dating back to the 1970s and had a mutual appreciation of each other’s work.
One of the lots is a specially commissioned carved jade pendant set with a Mexican opal in an 18ct gold frame with diamonds accents (above). The piece is being sold with the original hand-drawn design that is signed and dated 1987 with a guide of £6000-8000.
