There was a period, around 1917-25, in which he spent much of his time documenting various aspects of life in the western Himalayas.

Offered as part of an October 1-2 sale at Canterbury Auction Galleries (27% buyer’s premium) was a group of 48 photographs dating from that period of his life, most of which were taken in Tibet.

Of various sizes, many of the photographs are signed by Shuttleworth and have descriptions to verso.

Estimated at £300-500, the lot went on to sell online at £3600.
