1 How did you get your start?
Gladwells Rutland is part of the family business Gladwell & Patterson established c.1752 and I started with my father in 1960.
2 What is something you would love to get your hands on?
A Vermeer. There’s no finer or more skilled traditional artist. Also, if I ever obtained The Pietà, I would just sit and look at it for the rest of my life. Everything about it is so superhuman, it can’t be natural. How can you have a block of stone and create that?
3 One item you could not do without?
My wife, though she’s not an item.
4 Who is someone you admire (in or out of the trade)?
Herman Buhl the climber.
5 Real ale or espresso martini?
Neither, whisky.
