It has not gone far, however, leaving 58 Brook Street, Mayfair, its home for nearly 20 years, for 31 Brook Street. The move was prompted by redevelopment of the former block, but the new space (above) is larger.
Boston comeback
The Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair returns for its first in-person event since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
Taking place in downtown Boston from November 11-12, the 44th annual event hosts more than 100 dealers from nine countries.
Highlights at this edition include first editions of Jane Eyre and Finnegans Wake as well as collection of photographs by African-American photographer Dan Bolling of jazz musicians such as Miles Davis.
However, there is also a a ‘Discovery’ section where items are priced at $100 or less. Among the exhibitors are Maggs Bros, Mayfair Rare Books and Manuscripts and Sokol Books.
Southern US artists show
Bird and Flower, c.1938, by Dusti Bongé is offered for $100,000 by Hollis Taggart.
An exhibition on the relationship between southern US artist Dusti Bongé (1903-93) and gallerist and artist Betty Parsons (1900-82) has opened in New York City. Running until November 12, Kinship takes place at Hollis Taggart and comprises 35 works by Bongé and 15 by Parsons as well as photographs of the two women travelling.
Dealer Gallacher teams up with Cheffins

Interior design specialist and dealer Jermaine Gallacher has teamed up with Cambridge auction house Cheffins to pick out his top choices from the 655 lots in its Art & Design Sale on October 27.
The selection was then photographed at Gallacher’s studio in Lant Street, Southwark, south London. Cheffins hopes to attract some of Gallacher’s younger clients to the sale.
London Art Fair dates announced
Dates for the next instalment of the London Art Fair have been set for January 18-23. This marks a return to its regular slot in the calendar after being rescheduled to April this year in light of continued uncertainty over coronavirus-related challenges. The event features more than 100 galleries from around the world as well as a series of specially curated spaces, events, tours and talks.
BADA Art Prize winner revealed
Louise Phillips (BADA chairman), Rosalie Oakman (prizewinner) and Ashley Gallant (BADA managing director).
The second annual BADA Art Prize was awarded to Rosalie Oakman, a textile designer and artist. Presented at a a champagne reception during BADA Week (October 3-9), the prize gives £1000 to an emerging artist whose works “exemplify the enduring ingenuity and quality” illustrated by BADA members’ offerings.
Judges this year were artist Jenny Saville, Alain Dominique Perrin, the founder and president of the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art, Hrag Vartanian, editor-in-chief of online arts magazine Hyperallergic, and Dr Mark Westgarth, associate professor of art history and museum at the University of Leeds.
Kallos holds photography show
Antiquities specialist Kallos Gallery of Mayfair, London, is holding a photography exhibition.
Lūx Light features the work of Jaron James, who has worked as a photographer for The Science Museum and The Victoria and Albert Museum. He worked with the gallery on the series of images which highlight select parts of specific objects, capturing “fingerprints in black glaze, the surface of marble that mimics skin perfectly, the other worldly iridescence found in a Roman cup”.
