Contained in the publisher’s now re-backed, but gilt decorated cloth cover with its silver clasp, it presents an Authentic Representation of the Magnificent Marriage Procession and Ceremony… of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert… at the Chapel Royal, St James’s, on February 10, 1840.
It was offered in a May 4 sale held by Chiswick Auctions (25/12% buyer’s premium).

On its pages are displayed the uniforms, costumes, dresses and so on worn by those in attendance on that royal occasion, all of whose names and official appointments are given, along with details of the state apartments through which the long and distinguished procession passed.
When originally published by Fores the work cost one guinea fully coloured, or 12 shillings plain.
This example, re-backed and with the panorama held into the binding with tape at front and rear – though not affecting the image, said the cataloguer – sold for £1000 in the west London saleroom.
