Among the items that will go under the hammer on November 21 is a Louis XVI secrétaire à abbatant by the famous ébéniste Jean-Henri Riesener (1767-1828).
The secretaire, which is dated to c.1785, probably once formed part of a suite with a commode that is now in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and may be part of a set of furniture ordered for Marie Antoinette’s apartment at the Tuileries.
It is stamped twice JH Riesener and with the JME mark.
The estimate is €60,000-80,000.
