The woodblock print of a swan with initials W.W. to the lower right bought by Jane Orde in a timed online sale at 1818 Auctioneers in Milnthorpe last month. “It’s not representative of what I deal in,” she adds.
I arrived home from a mad dash into London from Oxford to clear stock while still clad in pyjamas. A parcel was on the doorstep.
How fantastic to have it packed so expertly and to find my print in excellent condition with no broken glass, no bashed frame and no scratched surface.
The auctioneers took it upon themselves to post out without me having to spend time liaising with a subcontracted shipper or the auction house themselves. Three cheers for initiative and speed.
