Freeman's Hindman
US auction house Freeman's Hindman was formed after the merger of two of America's top regional firms, Freeman's and Hindman. The first sales under the new brand took place in early 2024.
With multiple salerooms and regional offices, it claims to have ‘the largest, coast-to-coast presence of any auction house in the United States’.
Freeman's was founded in Philadelphia in 1805 (America’s oldest auction house) and the company remained in the hands of the Freeman family for six generations until a management buyout in 2016. Hindman was founded by Leslie Hindman in Chicago in 1982 and, as well as operating elsewhere in the US, held its first sales series in New York in October 2023.
