Nagel

German auction house Nagel Auktionen was founded by jeweller Dr. Fritz Nagel in 1922. Since 2003 they have been based in new premises in Stuttgart. 

Nagel hold regular art and antiques sales across year, as well as specialist sales of modern art, Asian art and collectors’ rugs. Among their most notable auctions was the ‘Tek Sing’ sale of Chinese porcelain in 2000, a 350,000-piece sell-out of cargo from a sunken vessel.

HIGHLIGHT of the 1440-lot Asian section of Nagel’s (33% buyer’s premium) mammoth November sale series was this rare 11in (28cm) high cylindrical cloisonné enamel vase of c.1900 by the highly regarded Namikawa Yasuyuki decorated with a striking design of bamboo and a snail on a black ground.
