Golding Young & Mawer
Golding Young & Mawer started with Thomas Mawer in 1864. In its current form, the business is the result of a merger between Golding Young & Co of Grantham and Thos. Mawer & Son of Lincoln in 2010.
A further merger with Richardsons Auctions occurred in 2013.
As well as regular fine art auctions and general sales, the company also offers valuation, transport, removals and house clearance services.
An Aboriginal star of sale and screen
24 August 2012The multitude of television shows devoted to antiques are rarely popular with the antiques trade as a whole – in a well-worn argument some credit them with the disintegration of the dealing community itself – but auctioneers are ready participants both for the publicity and the prospect of a decent consignment.
Hats off to Drake
07 July 2012Flick through the pages of an issue of ATG in the 1980s and there are many references to the rising market for Royal Doulton character jugs.

Now a third Giambologna monkey emerges

Photos of Canadian settlement project sell in Lincoln
17 March 2008It was in 1908 that the American entrepreneur Charles Barnes convinced the British Columbia Development Association (BCDA), a London-based investment syndicate, to purchase 6000 acres of land to establish a farming community for British settlers next to the Thompson River.
Steel-plated and copper-bottomed - the origins of the tank in 1915
24 June 2006Before The Great War the Lincoln engineering company, William Foster and Co, was synonymous with the very best threshing machines. By 1918, managing director Sir William Tritton, together with Major W.G. Wilson, had been credited by the Royal Commission as the inventor of an armoured fighting vehicle forever known as the tank.
Hope (or Smith) for the furniture market
16 August 2005Lincolnshire auctioneers Golding Young established a new house record on August 10 when they sold this superb mahogany breakfront side cabinet right for £135,000 (plus 15 per cent buyer’s premium).
Lincoln Net pulls in bids
20 July 2004INTERNET enquiries do not always translate into bids but Golding Young (15% buyer's premium) received enquiries from as far afield as India, America and Australia for pieces among the 1100 lots illustrated on their website for their May 5 sale.
Changing times and traditional magic
31 March 2004GRANTHAM auctioneers Golding Young, like many provincial operations, are changing their sales format this year, moving from specific “antique” sales and “general” sales to more inclusive events to meet the changing scene.

Collection of Meiji is an attraction in Lincolnshire
02 April 2001UK: ORIENTAL antiques rarely make the strongest contribution to provincial sales – although they have provided a few hugely gratifying if rather embarrassing sleepers before today – but the first day of this Lincolnshire sale featured a private collection of Meiji works of art that attracted strong bidding from the specialist trade.
£17,000 majolica discovery
26 April 1999UK: DURING a routine house call to a mid-Victorian terrace in Grantham, auctioneer Colin Young unearthed half of a pair of Victorian comports which were destined to establish a house record for ceramics at the Grantham Auction Rooms.
