Tajan
Tajan are an auction house based in Paris. They were founded by Jacques Tajan in 1994 who later sold the company in 2000 to LVMH, the luxury goods conglomerate run by Bernard Arnault. In 2004, the firm was acquired by Rodica Seward.
The saleroom hold over 60 sales per year in a wide range of specialist areas, as well as a prestigious annual auction in Monte Carlo. They have representatives across France as well as in Switzerland and Belgium.
Luke strikes it lucky at €43,000
08 January 2003Tajan, who have made cartoons and comic strips into a saleroom speciality, claimed a saleroom first on November 30: a pioneering opportunity for fans of Lucky Luke, the self-styled “poor lonesome cowboy”, to buy an original plate by his artist Morris.

06 January 2003Christie’s and Sotheby’s failed to establish saleroom predominance in Paris in 2002, the first full year in which, thanks to France’s recent auction reform, they have been allowed to stage auctions on French soil.
Return of the Goulden boy
19 June 2002Jean Goulden (1878-1947) was another name restored to pre-eminence at the Tajan sale on 28 May. Goulden belonged to the Groupe Dunand–Goulden–Jouve–Schmied and himself underwrote the exhibitions the group staged annually at the Galerie Georges-Petit in Paris from 1921 to 1933.
Enduring appeal of eclecticism

Etude Tajan to shorten name
17 September 2001FRANCE: Etude Tajan, France’s premier commissaires-priseurs, are to be known from now on as just plain TAJAN. The firm, run by Jacques Tajan and his son François, has been known as Etude Tajan since Jacques Tajan went independent from former partner Antoine Ader in 1995.

Tajan charged over Giacometti bronzes
18 October 1999FRANCE: AFTER a hearing with the examining magistrate on September 29, leading Paris auctioneer Jacques Tajan has been charged with “suborning a witness and serious breach of trust” over the sale of bronzes by Alberto Giacometti at Drouot in July 1994.
