Between December 13 and 19 Sotheby’s Paris rooms will offer a series of live and online auctions of works from the collection of Hubert Guerrand-Hermès (1940-2016), a descendant of the founder of the famous firm Hermès.

Gustave Alaux (1887-1965) was a French marine artist with a particular interest in historical naval scenes and vessels, often depicted in exotic settings such as the French colonies. He was appointed official painter to the navy in 1926.
