Russian Works of Art
Icons, porcelain, silverware, hardstone, works in gold and silver: these and many others are key sectors of the Russian works of art market.
Fabergé is the among most recognisable names in this field. Founded in St Petersburg in 1842, the jewellery firm was a favourite of the Russian Tsars and pieces of all kinds remain desirable and tend to command high prices at auction.

Aivazovsky posts highest price for a painting sold online during the lockdown
04 June 2020The latest sale of Russian art at Sotheby’s posted the highest individual price for a painting sold at an auction so far during the worldwide lockdown. However the online sale’s overall total was 46% down on the equivalent live auction held last year.

Suprematism tops solid ‘Londongrad’ sales
02 December 2019London’s Russian week of auctions put in a consistent performance last week with the sales at four salerooms generating a combined £37.5m with fees. This compared to £39.2m for the equivalent series last year and the £35.8m raised at the June series.
