Batemans
Batemans is an auction house and valuation firm based in Stamford in Lincolnshire.
Established in 2001 by the artist and antiques dealer Ron Bateman with his daughter Kate Bateman, the firm initially occupied the Stamford Corn Exchange on Broad Street in the centre of Stamford. Having moved to a modern saleroom on Ryhall Road, it is now run by Greg Bateman and sales regularly include items such as fine art, collectables, jewellery, watches, silver and coins.

Five Grand Tour collectables coming up at regional auctions next month
31 August 2018Specimen marble tops, micro-mosaics, plaster intaglios and marble neoclassical sculptures – objects such as these were typical purchases for the Grand Tourists who visited the sights of classical civilization in the 18th and 19th centuries. All regularly appear at auction.

30 October 2017The clearance of a neglected local property by Lincolnshire auction house Batemans (20% buyer’s premium) unearthed several treasures including two watercolours by the 18th century British painter Thomas Girtin (1775-1802).

Cups and bowl serve up £10,500
28 August 2017Offered as a job lot, these 2¾in (7cm) tall Chinese cloisonné stemmed cups and tea bowl pictured here were entered into the August 15 sale at Stamford auction house Batemans (20% buyer’s premium) by a private vendor content with the £50-70 estimate.
