Chorley's

Chorley’s auction house is based at Prinknash Abbey Park near Cheltenham.

It started out as Simon Chorley Art & Antiques Ltd which launched in 2006 out of the art and antiques department of the Gloucestershire firm Bruton Knowles.

Chorley’s changed hands in late 2022, with director Thomas Jenner-Fust buying the business with former colleague and friend Werner Freundel.

ESTIMATED at £800-1200, this Victorian silver ewer modelled as a kangaroo sold for £24,000 at Chorley's of Prinknash Abbey, Gloucestershire on October 22 to a London dealer on the telephone who saw off competition from Australia and France.

Saleroom revises Anglo-Japanese values – to £80,000

Initially catalogued as “an Eastern walnut three-tier table, brass mounted and fitted three flaps, 2ft (64cm) wide when open” and estimated at just £150-200, the appraisal of this stylish table seen at Simon Chorley of Southam, near Cheltenham, Gloucester on November 30 was radically upgraded when it was identified as the work of Aesthetic architect and designer Edward William Godwin (1833-1886).
