With estimates from £1500 to £30,000, here are five previews from upcoming sales this week.

The nickname ‘Lucky’ Lucan seems a strange one seeing as it refers to the infamous 7th Earl of Lucan who disappeared in 1974, shortly after the attempted murder of his, by then, estranged wife and the murder of the nanny of their children, Sandra Rivett.

The belongings of Lady Lucan, who died last year, and Lord Lucan, who vanished over 40 years ago, are coming up for auction in Banbury next month.

The Victoria Cross is the highest British military honour, but in the animal kingdom the equivalent is the Dickin Medal. The award earned by a pigeon called Princess is coming up at auction at Holloway’s of Banbury on December 12.

Holloway’s of Banbury, founded in the early 1970s by the late Tim Holloway and owned since 2001 by Nick Williams, is to join Charles Ross Auctioneers, owned by Russell Beard.
