Paris auction house Artcurial is opening an office in Morocco. Launching a permanent subsidiary in Marrakesh, the firm will now start holding regular sales at the famous La Mamounia hotel in the city from December this year.

A work spotted by a French auctioneer in a kitchen hanging above a hotplate has been ascribed to the Italian artist Cimabue (c.1240-1302). Valued at €4m-6m, it will be the first work attributed to the Florentine early Renaissance master to be offered at auction.
