TEFAF Report
The TEFAF Report is released annually at the opening of the TEFAF Maastricht fair in March. Since 2017 the report has been managed by Professor Rachel Pownall, following previous author Clare McAndrew's departure in 2016.
It is a major survey into the state of the global art and antiques market.

15 March 2019Sixty-four percent of Chinese art collectors bought Western European modern and contemporary art in the past five years according to a survey conducted for the TEFAF Art Market Report which was presented at the fair as the doors opened for the second preview day.

Surge in demand for art-secured loans as access to finance for art and antiques dealers remains poor
04 May 2018Nearly 90% of art and antiques dealers want easier ways to borrow money to fund purchases and nearly a third believe the lack of available lending hampers growth, according to a recent report.

The latest market forces reflected in Art Basel’s 'The Art Market 2018 Report'
26 March 2018The global report delivers the bigger picture for auctions and dealers but there are findings relevant to the mid- and lower-markets too.

19 March 2018Online channels are an increasing source of new buyers for both auction houses and dealers, despite the art and antiques sector being behind the wider economy when it comes to use of ecommerce, a new global report says.

China overtakes the UK as high-end sales dominate the global art market
14 March 2018The global art market grew by 12% in 2017 with the expansion driven by high-end sales as China overtook the UK as the second largest market, according to Dr Clare McAndrew’s latest report.

Professor Rachel Pownall: TEFAF report’s new author
25 March 2017Since its launch in 2002 the TEFAF Art Market Report has established itself as the art and antiques trade’s key annual barometer of size and trends.

Dr Clare McAndrew: ‘It is very challenging to measure the art market’
25 March 2017It is not often that market economists agree, and so it goes with the TEFAF Art Market Report’s current and previous authors. Economics is, after all, not an exact science and analysing a market as opaque as art and antiques is certainly problematic.

Art Basel Art Market Report 2017: Auction market weakness boosted dealer sales
22 March 2017The auction market weakened in 2016, as sales of art and antiques via dealers grew, according to the latest art market report.

Quest for anonymity drives increase in private art sales, says TEFAF Report

TEFAF 2016: “The bubble has not burst in art market values,” delegates told

TEFAF Maastricht gets ready for its latest outing
08 March 2013Showing up at TEFAF Maastricht in the southern Netherlands with a stand cobbled together from stale, lacklustre stock is tantamount to professional suicide, the sort of nightmare that has dealers waking up in a cold sweat.
