Chiswick Auctions
Chiswick Auctions is a West London auction house with 20 specialist departments including fine art, furniture, jewellery, silver, wine, arms and armour, books and fashion. It holds regular specialist sales as well as a monthly design and interiors sales.
The firm is jointly run by William Rouse and Leigh Osborne. In 2017, Chiswick Auctions announced plans to open a South Kensington showroom manned by a group of former Christie’s staff.
Thornycroft’s thoughtful but flash Gordon sculpture
19 June 2017Led by the 17th century Goan hardwood, ivory and bone tabernacle which took a 100-times-estimate £36,000 from a European bidder (see Pick of the Week, ATG No 2294), a recent sale at Chiswick Auctions (22% buyer's premium) also included a tribute to a quintessential Victorian imperial hero – General Gordon.
