Go East Vintage Markets is co-organised by Louisa Ware and Onur Kurtdere, who run regular markets in east London at Patchworks in Leyton, a part furniture factory and part creatives business.

Dealer Karen Taylor is among those noting that “collectors seem to be following the trend set by museums and buying more work by women”.

Event will change next year to be held less frequently but with greater impact

The year ended on a sombre note: after a near unbroken 40-year run of antiques fairs at Alexandra Palace in north London, the much-loved fair will no longer be held at this most special of venues.

Over 17,000 visitors including representatives from French and foreign museums, major collectors and decorators attended the first staging of the newly merged fair Fine Arts Paris & La Biennale.

The annual antiques and collectors’ fair at Alexandra Palace is no more.
