Numerous art, antique and collectors' fairs take place across the year in the different regions of the UK. These can cover a variety of specialisms and can be held outdoors or in large indoor centres.

HOME Counties organisers Jill Napper and Joy O’Meara, who operate as Jay Fairs, have just acquired the long-established Benson Antiques & Collectors Fair, held in the Parish Hall at Benson, Oxfordshire. They will run the fair from September 19 and on the third Sunday of each month thereafter. It will be AA signposted.

Masked gang strike at fair

SIX masked raiders broke into the South Cotswolds Antiques Fair at Westonbirt School, near Tetbury in Gloucestershire around 3am on the morning of Sunday August 15 and escaped with an estimated £400,000 worth of jewellery.

Royal coup claimed by Bailey for Northern showpiece

ESSEX organiser Robert Bailey has pulled off a coup by clinching Harewood House, near Leeds in North Yorkshire, as the venue for his 54th Northern Antiques Fair, which will be held from September 22 to 26.

FOR years now, the annual Snape Maltings Antiques and Fine Art Fair has been an institution in the fairs world. Sited in a large tented pavilion behind the Maltings in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, it is certainly a contender for the most attractive setting of any fair anywhere. But it has been going for 37 years and no event lasts that long on looks alone.

VETERAN fair organiser Reg Cooper is back – official. In early 2002 he sold his Cooper Antiques Fair circuit to Sue Ede, and for a while he remained at those fairs, helping out and exhibiting. But he has been gone for a while and recently rumours abounded that he was planning a comeback.
